Transformative Life Coaching
…works from the inside out. Most of the issues we think we have are a product of our own mind, a prison of thought that we lock ourselves into, if you will. We operate on autopilot and do what we’re “supposed” to do based on what we’re told by our families, society, or even our own self-limiting beliefs and irrational fears. You go on and on and suddenly realize that this just isn’t working for you. You’re “stuck.”
And you know that there’s more. You know you’re not supposed to be feeling “stuck.” You know you’re supposed to feel differently: happy, calm, and free. You’re just not sure how you got there or where to turn, how to change it, how to reset, how to have a Change in Thought.
I’m not offering a coaching package to deal with an uncomfortable, broken, unpleasant situation; I’m offering a Change in Thought that you will carry with you wherever you go in life. You have all the power. You have the capacity to live a more fulfilling life. Just like you have the power to keep yourself stuck, you have the power to allow your curiosity to seek a little help and set yourself free.
I will not be asking you for essays or to fill in workbooks. I will not judge, criticize, or give you advice on what to do. I will meet with you for 10-12 up-to-one-hour sessions and guide you through transformational questions, and hold space for YOU. Your answers are what will give you your “A-ha!” moment, your clarity, your insight, your power, your personal transformation. The only homework is taking your knowledge with you and applying it in your life.
You may feel you already know what’s holding you back. You may feel you already know what you need to change in your life to get unstuck. What steps have you taken? How’s that working out for you? Is there still something missing?
Perhaps you need just a little more clarity. Let’s have a Change in Thought and really be free of it.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
What is NLP? Neuro-Linguistic Programming is learning the language or the user manual of your mind. It’s the practice of understanding how people organize their thinking, feeling, language, and behavior to produce the results that they do.
Your subconscious mind always operates to protect you, there’s always a positive intention. Sad? How about a drink? Depressed? A large bowl of ice cream will fix that. While these things may temporarily make us feel better (protecting us from the sad/depressed state), but they aren’t necessarily good for us.
We can’t change the thing that has happened that has made us sad or depressed or filled with anger or anxiety, but we CAN change our relationship to the thing that has happened, and we can surely change how we feel about it going forward.
Once it’s happened, the only place it exists now is in your mind. It’s in the past. It’s only “alive” in our thoughts. We can have a Change in Thought and not carry the feelings brought about by the “thing that happened” into today, into now, into the future. It only exists in our thoughts. We can reset the reaction with a Change in Thought.
Hypnosis
Inducing trance to create change.
In general terms, hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that someone can enter into with or without the help of a hypnotherapist where their mind is more receptive to suggestions that can change the way they think, feel, and/or behave.
You always have full control of your body and mind during a session, just as you do in everyday states of hypnosis; for example:
Engrossed in a book or movie.
Just before you fall asleep/wake from sleep.
Driving on the highway.
Exercising.
Daydreaming.
The hypnotherapist guides you into a trance state, bypassing the rational, conscious mind, the part of you that knows what you “should” do, and communicates with the subconscious mind, the part of your mind that takes care of the processes outside of your conscious control, the part of you that’s trying to protect you, that reacts with the best intentions.
Hypnotherapy offers alternative responses for your subconscious mind to choose from; new, healthier ways to fulfil the same positive intentions without keeping you stuck in the same patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
By communicating our conscious wants and desires to the subconscious mind so that it can understand and accept, we can change old limiting beliefs, thought patterns, and habits to create powerful and permanent change.
You may consciously desire to change something in your life, but you haven’t been able to achieve it. Your subconscious mind may be holding on to a belief that no longer serves you. We need to reach the subconscious mind and change the idea/thought responsible for the reaction.
Take phobias and unhealthy behaviors. We can tell ourselves it’s not rational to run out of the room screaming when we think we see a spider, or it’s not rational to think a cigarette will calm us down when it’s literally increasing our heart rate and slowly killing us. Our subconscious mind, always wanting to protect us and make us feel better, thinks these behaviors are the solution because they seem to work. Spider? Danger! Run! Stress? Frustration? Light up!
What if they could have a Change in Thought and respond calmly, in a more healthy manner? Wouldn’t that be a nice change in their lives?
